It has been a bit of a wet and windy winter so far but we are still managing to get out between the weather systems.
Kingies are still mostly out on the deeper reefs though there are a few in the bait schools in the middle of the bay. Thankfully the bronze whalers seem to have gone elsewhere so there are a few nice kingies to be had when the weather allows.
The snapper have been around in good numbers through out the winter so far. The shallows have been producing some good fish though you sometimes have to wait a while to get the better specimens. There are also plenty of snapper around the deeper rocks and on the coast.
Hapuku are still a little thin on it but we should expect that to pick right up in the next month or so. Plenty of large tarakihi are around on the puka rocks so a good feed is still to be had out in the deep. Let us hope for better weather so we can get out there a bit more.
